SPANKING is stressful at first, but it could bring consenting couples closer together. That's the implication of two studies of hormonal changes associated with sadomasochistic (S&M) activities including spanking, bondage and flogging.
Brad Sagarin at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and colleagues measured levels of the stress hormone cortisol in 13 men and women at an S&M party in Arizona, before, during and after participating in activities. During S&M scenes, cortisol rose significantly in those receiving stimulation, but dropped back to normal within 40 minutes if the scene went well. There was no change in those inflicting the activity.
At an S&M event in Colorado, testosterone was measured in 45 men and women. It increased significantly in receiving women only. Donatella Marazziti of the University of Pisa, Italy, says the boost may help women cope with the aggressive nature of S&M activities, or that it could be another sign of stress. In both studies, couples who said the party went well also reported increases in relationship closeness (Archives of Sexual Behavior, DOI: 10.1007/s10508-008-9374-5).
It's important to note that levels of both hormones dropped back down in couples who enjoyed the experience, Marazziti says. "When sexual intercourse is consensual it is not stressful - even if it is extreme sex."
Richard Wiseman, a psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield, UK, adds that almost any shared activity is likely to promote interpersonal closeness. "It doesn't have to be tying up your partner or placing clamps on their nipples, it could be something as simple as cooking a meal together or even doing the housework as a duo," he says.
Nick Neave, a psychologist at the University of Northumbria, UK, says the results are interesting, but future studies should control for whether participants experienced orgasm, which is associated with reduced stress and an Increase in hormones Associated with partner-bonding and affection.

From time to time I return to Bisceglie. Fortunately, well-connected with Rome. Eurostar and Intercity also stop in my town. Until a few years ago treniOk were manna to many friends with just 18 € students who traveled up and down over the weekend. Today going up and down the coast a bit 'more. From 53 to 96 €. Depends on the train (Intercity or Eurostar) and the ticket fare (Basic, Premium or friend who is). I would say a bit 'too much to travel the 400 km that separate the capital from Bisceglie ... and despite all Trenitalia has increased from a few months the cost of Eurostar tickets.

In 1132, due to an epidemic that struck Alife (Ce) and the adjacent territories, a group of citizens went to Rome to seek the protection of the Pope in those days was communicated to the news that had collapsed and a beam of San Pietro he uncovered the tomb of St. Sixtus: This event was considered a miracle and the bones of the saint were delivered to the group citizens who had come from the town of Anderson. During the return trip, the mule that carried the bones of the Saint suddenly stopped, he refused to follow the path and forced the group to change direction, towards Alatri.
The relics were then left in that place and San Sisto was declared patron saint of Alatri. The relics were hidden for fear of raids and were found only on Wednesday after Easter 1548.
The celebrations in honor of San Sisto began on the eve of the anniversary with a solemn procession organized by the Confraternity of the Holy: the statue and the shrine of the saint are carried through the streets of the country for twenty-four brothers, dressed in a red bag and a cape white. The next day is instead characterized by religious celebrations and a beautiful celebration. Thousands of people flock to what is an event of great religious value and beyond.
Every year, to enliven the evenings of Alatrensi (weather permitting view that a characteristic of this festival is the rain!) Thick singers are invited to also give an impression to the youth event.
This year it was the turn of Simon Webbe, known popular Italian singer who has entertained many young people well, and others, flocked to listen to his notes. 
Each year, the inhabitants of Alatri are found in the downtown for the festivities in honor of Saint Pope Sixtus Martyr. St. Sixtus I, patron of the city, was pope from 117 to 127 the year and his cult is deeply entrenched as a result of a complex episode.
